Has Your Tinting Started to Peel? Part Two

How to Safely Remove Old Window Tint

First, raise the corners of the film gently. For this, you may need a razor or penknife; however, you could try using your fingernails. Pull it gently, pulling off as much as possible without ripping the film. Spray ammonia onto the uncovered area, and then proceed to work it beneath the film as much as possible. Try pulling more of the film off, and carry on applying the cleaner, using this process.

To remove window tint on windows which do not have obstructions like defroster strips, you could score or cut areas away. Spray cleaner onto the whole window, working deep into the scored areas. Start to pull these areas as they free up. In cases such as these, it won’t matter if the film comes off in pieces.
